Preliminary Examination

It comprises of two papers of 100 marks of each. It is important to remember that, after the change in examination pattern, marks of only Paper I will be counted in preparing the merit list of candidates eligible for mains examination and these marks will not be counted in final selection of candidate. Hence, only marks of mains examination and interview will be counted in preparing cutoff of Haryana Public service Commission Examination.

Both papers of Preliminary examination will counted in making cutoff of the preliminary examination.

Paper I: General Studies.

Paper II: Aptitude Test.

Subject Syllabus

General Studies General Science. Current events of national and international importance. History of India and Indian National Movement. Indian and World Geography. Indian Culture, Indian Polity and Indian Economy. General Mental Ability. Haryana–Economy and people. Social, economic and cultural institutions and language of Haryana.

General Aptitude Comprehension Interpersonal skills including communication skills Logical reasoning and analytical ability Decision making and problem-solving General mental ability Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, the order of magnitude, etc. – Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency, etc. – Class X level)

Main Examination

English (Including Essay paper) of 100 marks.

Hindi (Including Essay paper) of 100 marks.

General Studies exam of 100 marks

Two subjects with a paper each of 150 marks. The 2 subjects of optional will be selected from the list of 23 subjects and you need to select any 2 subjects of your choice
