Prelims Syllabus :
The Prelims exam has 2 objective papers and both the papers are of 120 marks each.
Paper 1 - General Studies
History and Culture
Indian Constitution, Polity
Social Justice and International Relations
Indian and Andhra Pradesh Economy and Planning
Geography
Paper 2 - General Aptitude
General Mental and Psychological Abilities
Science and Technology
Current Events of Regional, National and International importance
History and cultural portion - Indus valley civilization to Modern Indian History. Moreover, it is divided into Medieval, Ancient and Modern Indian History.
Also, the candidate must have an understanding of the Indian Constitution's main parts - DPSPs, Fundamental Rights, Federal Structure, Amendments and much more.
The Economy part of the syllabus covers both Pan India and Andhra Pradesh specific Issues.
Moreover, the 2nd paper includes questions on General mental ability, Aptitude, and current affairs.
Mains Examination
The APPSC mains are conducted offline. Further, the marks of the mains are counted to prepare the merit list. There are 7 essay-type questions in the paper. But, the Telugu and English paper is qualifying in nature. On the other hand, 5 exams are for General studies with the main focus on the events of Andhra Pradesh. The mains have 2 qualifying papers and 5 merit - ranking papers.

Paper 1 - General
Candidates have to write 3 essays of approximately 800 words each.
Paper 2 - History, Culture and Geography of India and Andhra Pradesh
History and Culture of India with special reference to Andhra Pradesh. For Geography, read about river systems, maps, places of geographic importance, etc. in Andhra Pradesh and India in general.
Paper 3 – Polity, Constitution, Governance, Law and Ethics
Public Administration and Governance. Laws related to Civil, Criminal, Cyber, Taxation, etc. Ethics in Public Administration.
Paper 4 – Economy and Development of India and Andhra Pradesh
Challenges in Indian Economy, Resource mobilization in India with special reference to Andhra Pradesh, Budget related to Centre and State, Development in Agriculture, Industrial policies of Centre and Andhra Pradesh, etc.
Paper 5 – Science and Technology
Current affairs, ICT, Environment related news, developments in technology, etc.
