Preliminary Examination
The prelim stage has 2 papers that are conducted offline in the same day. However, this stage has just objective questions (MCQ) and acts as a filter for the main examination. Also, the marks of KAS prelims are ignored for the final merit list. In short, the candidate should be prepared as the cut-offs are different every year.
Also, both papers have 100 questions each.
Moreover, every question is of 2 marks and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
On the other hand, the general questions are of the 10th standard.
KPSC Main Exam Pattern
The main exam consists of 9 papers.
Moreover, Kannada and English are compulsory language papers. Also, qualifying in nature.
Minimum of 35% marks required to clear both language papers.
However, the questions are of honors degree level.
The duration is of 2 hours and the total marks are of 1750.
