General Science:
- In general science, questions are generally asked from; Physics, Chemistry, Biology up to 10th standard.
Current Affairs of National/International importance:
- The dynamic portion of the syllabus is to be covered through Current Affairs.
- For current affairs, candidates must prepare for at least 12 months. In recent times, old current affairs have also being asked by the PPSC Body. Also, make sure to pay attention to facts and data related to the state of Punjab.
History of India and Punjab:
- General understanding of the subject with broad aspects of the history of Punjab.
- Although the basic understanding of every topic pertaining to History of India and Punjab is required; But, most of topics should be read in current context.
Geography of India and Punjab: General geography and geographical division of Punjab and its major river systems:
- Questions will relate to physical, social and economic geography of the country including the main features of Indian agricultural and natural resources.
- Most of the questions will be asked related to particular industries and their location so, mapping work is very important to understand the basic requirement of Geography preparation.
Indian Polity
- Questions will test your knowledge of the country’s political system, Panchayati Raj, community development, and planning in India and Punjab, etc.
Indian Movements and Contribution of Punjab in it
- Question will relate to the nature and character of the nineteenth century resurgence, growth of nationalism and attainment of Independence with special reference to Punjab.
- Culture of Punjab and understanding the people of Punjab and their contribution.
Paper II: CSAT
- Logical Reasoning (Deductive, Inductive, Adductive)
- Statement and Assumptions, Statement and Argument, Statements and Conclusion, Courses of Action.
- Analytical Reasoning.
- Comprehension, synonyms and antonyms.
- Mental Ability :Number series, Letter series, Odd man out, Coding-Decoding, Problems relating to Relations, Shapes and their sub sections.
- Basic Numeracy : Elementary knowledge of Mathematical and Statistical Analysis.
- Number System, Order of Magnitude, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Simple and Compound Interest, Data Analysis (Tables, Bar diagram, Line graph, Pie-chart).
Mains Examination
In mains examination, you will have total of seven papers:
- Punjabi(100 marks)
- Essay (150 marks, 50 each essay)
- General English (comupulsory, 100 marks)
- Paper I: General studies paper 250 marks
- Paper II: General studies paper 250 marks
- Paper III: General studies paper 250 marks
- Paper IV: General studies paper 250 marks
Total Marks of Mains Examination – 1350 marks
- Each paper of mains will be of descriptive type and paper of general English and general Hindi will be up to the level of senior secondary level.
- The number of candidates that will be admitted in mains examination will be 15 times of vacancies in category wise.
