Instructor: Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Bombay.

This course provides an introduction to broadband networks. Topics covered in the lectures include QoS in packet switching and ATM, ATM networks, effective bandwidth, traffic descriptor in ATM, calculus for QoS, packet scheduling algorithm, fair queuing, rate proportional servers, latency rate servers, QoS in best-effort internet, TCP congestion control, TCP throughput, IP addressing scheme, IP over ATM, Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Integrated Service Internet (IntServ) and RSVP, voice over IP, and metro ethernet access networks.
